L’accordo commerciale e di cooperazione tra UE e Regno Unito (TCA) rappresenta un tipo speciale di accordo commerciale per diversi motivi. Per la prima volta, l’UE ha firmato un accordo commerciale con un ex Stato membro dell’UE e, a differenza di altri accordi commerciali, mira a definire un ampio quadro normativo per una serie di questioni precedentemente regolamentate nell’ordinamento giuridico dell’UE.

Entrambe le parti firmatarie si sono impegnate a non indebolire o ridurre – in modo da incidere sugli scambi o sugli investimenti – i livelli di protezione esistenti alla fine del periodo di transizione. Tuttavia, l’obbligo sorge solo quando i cambiamenti negli standard impattano sul commercio o sugli investimenti.

I relatori discuteranno sul peso dei diritti sociali nell’accordo, da tre principali prospettive di analisi, vale a dire una prospettiva britannica, una dell’UE e una prospettiva di diritto internazionale.

we are glad to invite you to participate in our webinar ‘Labour and Social Standards i n the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement: Reality and Expectations’, which will ne held on Friday 21st May 2021, h 9.30 am CEST.

The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) represents a special kind of Trade Agreement for several reasons. For the first time, the EU signed a Trade Agreement with a former EU Member State and, differently from other Trade Agreements, aims at defining a wide regulatory framework for a variety of issues previously regulated within the EU legal order.
Both signatory Parties committed themselves not to weaken or reduce – in a manner affecting trade or investment – the levels of protection existing at the end of the transition period. However, the obligation only arises where changes in standards would impact on trade or investment.

The keynote Speakers will discuss on the place of social rights considerations in the Agreement, from three main perspectives of analysis, namely a UK, a EU and an International law perspective.
